Artists' Masterpieces of 2 Countries in ARTEASTISM #2

On October 10 to 14, 2016 the Department of Art and Design, Faculty of Letters held Arteastism#2 activities. Not only inviting domestic artists, Arteastism also invited several artists from abroad including from Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. Arteastism carries a spirit of togetherness in art. Art becomes a universal language that unites people from different cultural backgrounds.

This grand event was officially opened by Malang State University officials. The opening was enlivened by a spectacular performance of colossal contemporary dance and music collaboration from the Dance and Music Education Study Program (PSTM). The show involved about 60 students from the PSTM study program. The choreographer of this colossal dance is Robby Hidajat M.Sn, a dance lecturer at PSTM who is currently completing his doctoral study. The show's presentation was enough to grab the attention of the attendees who enthusiastically watched the show from beginning to end.

Sharing Knowledge with Dolorosa Sinaga

webOne of the agenda of the Department of Art and Design, Faculty of Letters, on Tuesday 27 September 2016 will hold a Guest Lecture with the title "Art and Humanism". The event which will take place in the Hall of the E6 FS UM building will thoroughly discuss what art means and how it is applied in everyday life. With resource persons, Mother Dolorosa Sinaga from the Jakarta Arts Institute, students majoring in art and design at the Faculty of Letters were invited to discuss and learn how to understand the meaning of art and how it is applied in life and the environment.

In order to increase the quantity and quality of academic activities for students and lecturers, the Department of Art and Design will organize activities Fine Art Exhibition who cooperate with Yalla Rajabat University (YRU) Thailand.

This exhibition activity is planned to be held on September 2016 which is located at the State University of Malang.

2016 Cultural Arts Seminar

In October 2016, the Department of Design Arts, Faculty of Letters, UM will hold an activity Cultural Arts Seminar (inter-nation seminar) entitled "COEXISTENCY OF NUSANTARA CULTURAL ARTS TO STRENGTHEN NATIONAL IDENTITY".

This cultural arts seminar was carried out to achieve several destination that is :

  • Strengthen the ties of cultural arts cooperation between countries in Southeast Asia
  • Formulate the concept of regional art and culture that forms national identity
  • Strengthening the concept of the coexistence of Indonesian art and culture as regional culture

 

Forms of activity from this inter-national cultural arts seminar, which is in the form of a series of activities as follows:

  • The main activity is in the form of an international cultural arts seminar with speakers from four countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand
  • Parallel sessions to be held by the participants or accompanying speakers
  • National cultural arts performances
