Faculty of Languages, Universitas Negeri Malang Extends Warm Ramadan Greetings for 1444 H

Joni Agung Sudarmanto

Malang, Indonesia – As the holy month of Ramadan commences, the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Languages at Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) extends heartfelt greetings to all Muslims, both within the academic community and beyond, wishing them a blessed and spiritually enriching Ramadan in the year 1444 H.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, holds profound significance for Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, reflection, prayer, and spiritual growth. It is a period marked by acts of worship, self-discipline, and an emphasis on charity and community.

A Message of Blessings

The Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Languages at UM expresses its warmest wishes to all for a Ramadan filled with spiritual enlightenment, tranquility, and a deepened connection with one’s faith. The beginning of this sacred month is a time for Muslims to intensify their devotion to God and engage in acts of worship with a heightened sense of devotion.

Ramadan serves as a reminder of the importance of self-restraint, empathy, and compassion for those less fortunate. It is a time when Muslims are encouraged to strengthen their bonds with family, friends, and the community, fostering a sense of unity and solidarity.

Fasting and Spiritual Reflection

Fasting from dawn to sunset during Ramadan is a central pillar of this holy month. It is a physical and spiritual discipline that serves to purify the soul, cultivate self-control, and deepen one’s understanding of empathy for those who face hunger and adversity daily.

Muslims believe that during Ramadan, the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Therefore, it is a time when Muslims dedicate themselves to reading, reciting, and pondering upon the teachings of the Quran.

The Spirit of Giving

One of the hallmark virtues of Ramadan is the spirit of giving and charity. Muslims are encouraged to engage in acts of philanthropy and to contribute to the welfare of those in need. It is a time when charitable acts, known as “zakat” and “sadaqah,” are of particular importance.

UM’s Faculty of Languages applauds the spirit of generosity that is so prevalent during Ramadan and encourages members of the academic community to participate in acts of charity and kindness. These acts not only benefit the recipients but also bring a sense of fulfillment and contentment to the giver.

A Time for Reflection and Renewal

Ramadan provides a unique opportunity for Muslims to embark on a journey of self-reflection, self-improvement, and spiritual renewal. It is a time to seek forgiveness for past sins, seek guidance from God, and strive to be better versions of oneself.

The Faculty of Languages at UM encourages all Muslims to make the most of this sacred month by engaging in acts of worship, seeking knowledge, nurturing the spirit of gratitude, and fostering a deeper connection with their faith.

Unity and Community

As the UM community celebrates Ramadan, it is a time for unity and solidarity. Muslims from diverse backgrounds come together to observe this sacred month, emphasizing the universality of Islam and the shared values of peace, compassion, and brotherhood.

The Faculty of Languages values diversity and inclusivity, and Ramadan provides an opportunity for all members of the academic community to learn about and appreciate different cultures and traditions.

A Shared Journey

As the academic year continues, the Faculty of Languages recognizes the unique challenges that Ramadan can pose for students and faculty members. The university remains committed to accommodating the needs of those observing Ramadan and ensuring that they can fully engage in their academic pursuits while also observing their religious practices.

In the spirit of solidarity, the faculty encourages students and faculty members to communicate openly about their needs during this holy month, fostering an environment of understanding and support.

A Blessing for All

The Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Languages at UM joins Muslims worldwide in extending warm greetings for a blessed Ramadan in the year 1444 H. May this holy month bring peace, spiritual enlightenment, and a deepened sense of faith to all who observe it.

As the UM community embarks on this sacred journey, may the blessings of Ramadan extend beyond the month itself, shaping the lives and hearts of all who partake in its spiritual and communal significance.

May the fast be easy, the prayers be accepted, and the hearts be filled with gratitude and kindness throughout this blessed month of Ramadan.
