Dekan UMK Berikan Reviu Cerita Rakyat sebagai Media Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia Karya Tim Dosen Indonesia

Cerita rakyat merupakan warisan budaya yang harus dijaga. Cerita rakyat bukan hanya hiburan, tetapi juga rekaman peristiwa yang merefleksikan masyarakat yang melatarinya. Meskipun demikian, cerita rakyat dapat diceritakan dengan berbagai perspektif sehingga menjadi media pewarisan nilai yang efektif.

Kegiatan membaca cerita rakyat memiliki sejumlah manfaat, yaitu dapat mengembangkan keterampilan membaca, memperkaya kosakata, membantu anak-anak mempelajari tradisi budaya suatu daerah, mengembangkan pengetahuan dan kecintaan terhadap budaya daerah lain, dan lain sebagainya. Latar belakang inilah yang mendorong tim dosen dari Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) dan Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) mengembangkan penulisan cerita rakyat untuk Siswa Sekolah Menengah.

Kumpulan cerita rakyat yang diberi judul Kisah-kisah dari Masa Lalu ini merupakan antologi cerita rakyat Jawa Timur, Indonesia yang ditulis dengan perspektif Gender Equality and Social Inclusion. Cerita dilandasi prinsip pendidikan kesetaraan. Penulisan cerita ini juga melibatkan penelaah Gender Equality and Social Inclusion dari Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Malaysia, Dr. Hanisa Binti Hasan. Dekan Faculty of Creative Technologi and Heritage UMK dalam reviunya pada 03 Agustus 2023 di antaranya menyarankan pengemasan yang lebih kekinian agar menarik minat anak-anak remaja membaca cerita rakyat. Penulisan dan penerbitan buku ini didanai oleh Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) melalui skema penelitian dengan dana internal.

In today’s interconnected era, effective cross-border communication underscores the importance of foreign language proficiency. Universitas Negeri Malang takes a significant stride with an ambitious research initiative delving into communication willingness within the Indonesian EFL landscape. This pioneering study zeroes in on deciphering the motivational, contextual, metacognitive, and communicative elements that shape the landscape of English language interaction.

Leading the research team is Prof. Utami Widiati, M.A., Ph.D., supported by Prof. Dr. Sri Rachmajanti, Dip. TESL., M.Pd., and a doctoral student researcher Suci Nugrah Amalia. The team is honored to collaborate with Budi Waluyo, a foreign researcher from Walailak University, Thailand.

This research initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the goal of “Quality Education.” By understanding the dynamics of English language communication, the project aims to enhance language education, foster global communication, and promote cultural understanding.
