Kontribusi terhadap SDG 4: Quality Education
Sebagai bagian dari upaya mendukung pencapaian Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDG) 4 terkait pendidikan berkualitas, Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) terus mengembangkan strategi pembelajaran inovatif untuk mahasiswa pascasarjana. Salah satu inisiatif unggulan adalah penyelenggaraan kompetisi “3-Minute Thesis” (3MT), yang dirancang untuk mengasah keterampilan komunikasi akademik dan kemampuan menyampaikan hasil penelitian secara efektif. Kompetisi ini melibatkan mahasiswa yang mengambil Mata Kuliah Methodology in ELT Research pada tiga offering berbeda di program studi Magister Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Sastra UM. Ketiga offering tersebut dipandu oleh Sari Karmina, Ph.D (Offering A), Siti Muniroh, Ph.D (Offering B), dan Anik Nunuk Wulyani, Ph.D (Offering C).
Dalam kompetisi 3MT, peserta ditantang untuk mempresentasikan penelitian tesis mereka hanya dalam waktu tiga menit menggunakan satu slide presentasi, dengan bahasa yang mudah dipahami oleh audiens non-ahli. Tujuan utama dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk melatih mahasiswa menyampaikan ide-ide penelitian secara ringkas dan relevan, sekaligus memperkuat keterampilan berbicara di depan umum. Kompetisi ini juga mendorong mahasiswa untuk memikirkan dampak nyata penelitian mereka terhadap dunia pendidikan, sesuai dengan prinsip SDG 4 yang menekankan akses pendidikan berkualitas dan inklusif.
Pelaksanaan Kompetisi dan Beragam Topik Penelitian
Kompetisi ini diikuti oleh sembilan peserta dari offering A, B, dan C, dengan berbagai topik penelitian yang relevan dan inovatif. Beberapa topik yang menarik perhatian antara lain penerapan kecerdasan buatan (AI) dalam pembelajaran bahasa, strategi peningkatan kompetensi guru di daerah terpencil, dan analisis pengalaman siswa dalam pembelajaran kolaboratif. Juri yang terdiri dari dosen-dosen Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris mengevaluasi peserta berdasarkan kriteria kejelasan presentasi, kemampuan memahami audiens, dan keterlibatan audiens selama penyampaian.
Pemenang dan Dampak Kompetisi
Setelah proses penilaian yang ketat, juara pertama diraih oleh Chatarina Tri Rahmawati dari offering A dengan presentasi yang memukau dan relevan. Fahma Lailatus Sholihah Rusman dari offering C dan Syamsul Arifin dari offering B masing-masing meraih posisi kedua dan ketiga. Kompetisi ini tidak hanya memberikan pengakuan kepada pemenang, tetapi juga menjadi ajang pembelajaran bagi seluruh peserta untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara di depan umum, menyusun pesan yang jelas, dan mengkomunikasikan hasil penelitian mereka secara efektif.
Harapan untuk Masa Depan
Kompetisi 3MT diharapkan dapat menjadi agenda tahunan di Universitas Negeri Malang, dengan skala yang lebih besar dan melibatkan lebih banyak mahasiswa pascasarjana. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga diharapkan dapat mendorong mahasiswa untuk lebih percaya diri dalam mempresentasikan penelitian mereka di forum nasional maupun internasional. Sambutan terhadap kedatangan peneliti asing di Departemen Sastra Indonesia
Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) merupakan salah satu univeritas berstatus PTNBH yang menjadi ujung tombak bagi cerminan kemajuan pendidikan tinggi dan sekaligus menunjukkan kemampuan bangsa Indonesia dalam kancah persaingan global. Oleh karenanya, salah satu program yang dilaksanakan di UM adalah rintisan kelas internasional. Kelas internasional adalah adalah penyelenggaraan perkuliahan yang dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan standar internasional, yang meliputi standard isi, proses, penyelenggaraan, dan bahasa yang digunakan.
Salah satu program studi (prodi) yang ditunjuk untuk menyelenggarakan kelas internasional dengan peserta mahasiswa Indonesia dan/atau mahasiswa internasional adalah Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa, Sastra Indonesia, dan Daerah (PBSID). Sebagai upaya merintis kelas internasional, tim dari Prodi PBSID menyiapkan perangkat pembelajaran matakuliah Literary History yang diorientasikan untuk mahasiswa internasional. Matakuliah ini merupakan matakuliah wajib bagi mahasiswa Prodi PBSID yang disajikan di semester pertama. Matakuliah ini memberi landasan tentang sastra Indonesia mulai dari awal kelahiran hingga perkembangan terkini.

Tim PBSID melakukan pengembangan dokumen pembelajaran Sejarah Sastra mulai dari handout, PPT perkuliahan, hingga video pembelajaran. Untuk membantu penyiapan dokumen pembelajaran tersebut, PBSID mendatangkan peneliti dari Universiti Malaya untuk melakukan tinjauan pengembangan pada 15 Maret 2023. . Peneliti yang didatangkan adalah Assc. Prof. Norhayati AB Rahman, dosen pada Akademi Pengajian Sastra Melayu, Universiti Malaya yang juga dikenal sebagai sastrawan dan penyair.
Peneliti asing dan tim peneliti PBSID melaksanakan diskusi
Selama di Departemen Sastra Indonesia, Assc. Prof. Norhayati AB Rahman melakukan diskusi bersama tim PBSI untuk pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran Sejarah Sastra. Dengan penelitian ini diharapkan PBSI memiliki dokumen pembelajaran MK Sejarah Sastra yang lengkap dan dapat dipergunakan dalam pembelajran sehingga pembelajaran efektif dan capaian pembelajaran terpenuhi.
