Kunjungan Mahasiswa Amerika dari School for International Training (SIT) ke Universitas Negeri Malang

Pada hari senin (13/3) tujuh mahasiswa yang sedang belajar bahasa Indonesia di School for International Training (SIT) melakukan kunjungan ke Universitas Negeri Malang. Disambut hangat oleh tim Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA), Pusat Studi Bahasa dan Budaya Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Malang, serta beberapa mahasiswa S1 peminatan BIPA Universitas Negeri Malang, tujuh mahasiswa Amerika yang berasal dari universitas serta jurusan yang berbeda itu belajar tentang bahasa dan budaya Indonesia.

 

Kegiatan di gedung B3 ruang senat bersama mahasiswa Amerika yang didampingi oleh Bu Ni Wayan Ariati (Akademik direktur SIT) teman Dr. Gatut Susanto (Koordinator program BIPA UM)  dan 5 staff  pengajar SIT lainnya, diawali dengan sesi perkenalan dan dilanjutkan penyampaian materi representasi gender dalam film Indonesia yang disampaikan oleh Bu Evi Eliyanah, S.S., M.A., Ph.D dari departemen sastra Inggris Universitas Negeri Malang.

Gender merupakan topik diskusi yang selalu hangat untuk usut. Berbicara tentang Indonesian gender ideology yang garis besarnya terbagi menjadi Bapakism dan Ibuism, Bu Evi menyampaikan, “Woman need to be position as support. Therefore in Indonesia we are familiar with the term ‘Panca Darma Wanita’ or the five rules of woman and partly is to support their husband”. Dengan mengenakan outfit yang santai, tujuh mahasiswa itu meyimak materi budaya Indonesia dengan serius dan mencatat banyak materi yang disampaikan.

Usai dilakukannya tanya jawab dan foto bersama, tujuh mahasiswa SIT didampingi mitra tutur mahasiswa S1 peminatan BIPA mengelilingi kampus (campus tour). “Malang is beautiful, Indah” kata salah seorang mahasiswa SIT. Dilanjutkan dengan kegiatan makan siang, agenda kunjungan masih akan berlangsung hingga selasa (14/3).
