October 5, 2016, the Faculty of Letters held a seminar with the theme DIGITAL VS LOCAL CULTURE. Taking place in the FS Hall, the event which started at 08.00 attracted students to participate in the event. With sources Anggara Sri Wisnu who is an art practitioner from Yogyakarta and Garuda Spirit Team who is the creator of the Garuda spirit comics and alumni of the Faculty of Letters. In this activity students get new experiences and inspiration for them, where they know more about what and how so that Indonesian cultural identity can survive amid the onslaught of foreign cultures. Students can also get inspiration on how to realize their dreams without losing their own identity.

Selasa, 04 Oktober 2016 Fakultas Sastra Universitas Negeri Malang menggelar acara Gelar Rujak Uni sebagai acara pelepasan dosen purna tugas. Tahun 2016 ada tiga dosen Fakultas sastra yang purna tugas, yaitu Dr. Widodo Hs., M.Pd. dari Jurusan Bahasa Indonesia, Dr. Muhajir dari Jurusan Seni dan Desain dan Dr. Arwijati Murdibjono, M.Pd. Dip. TESL dari Jurusan Bahasa Inggris. Acara tersebut dibuka langsung oleh Dekan Fakultas Sastra, dihadiri oleh seluruh dosen Fakultas Sastra serta dimeriahkan dengan hiburan tari Remo Bolet dan Tembang Jula Juli oleh Pelestari Budaya Tradisional GATRA (Garapan Tradisi)

The Seminar on ARTS AND HUMANISM CULTURE with Dolorosa Sinaga on 27 September 2016 was attended by almost all students from the Department of Art and Design, Faculty of Letters. The event which took place in the AVA Hall really attracted students to gain knowledge from Dolorosa Sinaga who is a national sculptor whose work has reached foreign countries. Students also get bonuses in the form of a special book from Dolorosa Sinaga for those who are active in participating in the seminar. This activity was highly appreciated by the Dean of the Faculty of Letters Prof. Utami Widiati as a form of facility for students to learn apart from classroom learning.

The Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang invited parents of students from batch 2008 - 2012 to AVA Hall, Faculty of Letters on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.
This calling is intended to communicate directly with the Faculty of Letters with the parents of students, as a form of very high concern for students in completing their studies.
In this meeting Prof. Utami Widiati, MA, Ph.D as the Dean urged and motivated students and parents to be able to immediately complete student studies which had been hampered due to various factors. Most of the factors inhibiting student studies are because they have worked and have difficulty dividing the time between work and study time. So they have to divide their time and energy.
In this case, the Faculty of Letters emphasizes parents to be able to synergize with the Faculty to further motivate students to immediately complete their studies which were hampered.
It is hoped that with this meeting, Faculty of Letters students can graduate on time and immediately be able to apply and share their knowledge with the public.

Sunday, September 25 2016. The Arabic Literature Department community service team chaired by Dra.Nur Anisah Ridwan, M.Pd and consisting of Dr. Nurhidayati, M.Pd, Dr. Hanik Mahliatussikah, M.Hum, and Ibnu Samsul Huda, SS, MA conducted activities in the form of training themed "Development of Poetry Based Arabic Learning Model". This activity was attended by Kindergarten teachers from Lowokwaru Malang sub-district. The aim of the implementation of this service was to develop poetry-based Arabic learning for kindergarten children, in an easy and fun way.

Saturday, September 24, 2016. The Arab Literature Department community service team chaired by Dr. Hanik Mahkliatussikah, M.Hum, consisting of Dr. Khasairi, M.Pd, and Dr. Kholisin, M.Hum conducted activities in the form of training with the theme "PAIKEM-Based Learning Approach (Active, Innovative, Creative, Effective, and Fun Learning) ”. This activity was attended by Pondok Pesantren teachers throughout Malang. The purpose of this service was to increase the understanding and skills of Islamic boarding school teachers in Malang, in implementing PAIKEM-based learning.

One of the agenda of the Department of Art and Design, Faculty of Letters, on Tuesday 27 September 2016 will hold a Guest Lecture with the title "Art and Humanism". The event which will take place in the Hall of the E6 FS UM building will thoroughly discuss what art means and how it is applied in everyday life. With resource persons, Mother Dolorosa Sinaga from the Jakarta Arts Institute, students majoring in art and design at the Faculty of Letters were invited to discuss and learn how to understand the meaning of art and how it is applied in life and the environment.
