Under the vast blue skies, the university community gathered for a solemn ceremony to honor the bravery and sacrifices of Indonesia’s heroes. The spirit of Merah Putih (the Indonesian flag) will forever flutter in our hearts ID.

A Nation’s Pride: 78 Years of Independence

On this historic day, UM paid its heartfelt tribute to the nation’s 78 years of sovereignty. The Independence Day celebration was not merely a customary event but a solemn occasion to remember the struggle and sacrifices made by countless heroes who fought for Indonesia’s freedom.

UM’s Patriotic Gathering

FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto Benchmarking Program Studi S1 Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris  Fakultas Sastra Universitas Negeri Malang

Kota Malang – Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP) Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) melakukan Studi Banding (Benchmarking) terkait dengan pelaksanaan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi dengan program studi S1 Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Sastra Universitas Negeri Malang (UM). Pertemuan dalam rangka membicarakan peningkatan pengelolaan kelembagaan di FKIP UMP tersebut digelar pada hari Senin, 14 Agustus 2023 bertempat di ruang rapat D16.204 Fakultas Sastra UM.

Pertemuan yang digelar mulai dari pukul 8 pagi hingga 11 siang ini dihadiri oleh 6 orang perwakilan dari FKIP UMP, diantaranya Feisal Aziez, Ph.D. selaku Kaprodi S1 Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris UMP, Miftahul Furqon, S.S., M.Pd. selaku Sekretaris Prodi S1 Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, UMP, Dodi Siraj Muamar Zain, Ph.D. selaku Koordinator Kelas Internasional, Faisal, S.S.,M.Pd.,Ph.D. selaku TPMPS S1 Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, UMP, Dyah Kusumastuti., M.Hum. selaku TPMPS S1 Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, UMP, dan Sheila Anjarani., M.Pd. selaku TPMPS S1 Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, UMP.

Sementara itu, dari pihak program studi S1 Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Sastra UM dihadiri oleh Dr.Suharyadi, S.Pd, M.Pd. selaku Ketua Departemen Sastra Inggris, Dr.Edy Hidayat, selaku Wakil Dekan 2 FS, Dr. Kusubakti Andjani, M.Pd. selaku Wakil Dekan 3 FS, Rahmati Putri Yaniafari, S.Pd., M.Pd. selaku Sekretaris Departemen Sastra Inggris, Dra. Nunung Suryati, M.Ed., Ph.D. selaku Ketua Program Studi S2 dan S3 Pendidikan Bahssa Inggris, Dr. Lestari Setyowati, M.Pd, selaku Dosen Departemen Sastra Inggris, Yusnita Febrianti, S.Pd., M.A., Ph.D. selaku Dosen Departemen Sastra Inggris, dan Nanang Zubaidi, S.S., M.A., Ph.D. selaku Dosen Departemen Sastra Inggris.

Kunjungan dimulai dengan prakata serta sambutan dari Dr. Suharyadi, S.Pd, M.Pd. sebagai Ketua Departemen Sastra Inggris. Beliau mengucapkan terima kasih atas kunjungan FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto untuk melakukan studi banding di S1 Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris UM. Selain itu, beliau juga menjelaskan bagaimana struktur organisasi Fakultas Sastra UM yang ternyata berbeda dengan UMP, yang dimana Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di UM masuk ke dalam Fakultas Sastra, sedangkan Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di UMP masuk ke dalam Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan.

Pertemuan ini pun dilanjutkan dengan proses diskusi yang membahas berbagai hal mengenai pengelolaan kelembagaan khususnya berkaitan dengan kurikulum sebagai upaya Program Studi dalam meningkatkan kualitas kurikulum OBE, integrasi MBKM, persiapan visitasi akreditasi internasional dan pengelolaan kelas internasional.

Dr. Suharyadi, S.Pd, M.Pd. dan Rahmati Putri Yaniafari, S.Pd., M.Pd. juga menjelaskan bahwa UM berupaya meningkatkan kurikulum dengan memasukan mata kuliah yang bertujuan meningkatkan kreatifitas dan inovasi mahasiswa ke dalam mata kuliah transdisipliner. Sehingga semua mahasiswa dari berbagai program studi bisa mengambil mata kuliah tersebut.

UMP dan UM telah menjalankan studi banding untuk membagikan strategi sukses Fakultas Sastra, khususnya Department Sastra Inggris, dalam melaksanakan program MBKM dengan sistem satgas. Mereka juga menyoroti upaya Department Sastra Inggris mempertahankan akreditasi, yang mengilhami peningkatan mutu pendidikan. Kolaborasi ini mendorong pembelajaran dan inovasi lintas universitas.

Kegiatan studi banding ini pun diakhiri dengan pembahasan mengenai persiapan visitasi akreditasi internasional yang menurut Feisal Aziez, Ph.D. beberapa program studi di FKIP UMP akan melakukan visitasi akreditasi internasional pada akhir tahun 2023. Dr. Suharyadi, S.Pd, M.Pd. juga turut menyampaikan harapan beliau agar persiapan visitasi akreditasi internasional tersebut berjalan dengan lancar.

“Pelatihan akan membahas seputar permasalahan yang sering dijumpai oleh guru saat mengajar secara berkelompok dan memberikan solusi terhadap permasalahan tersebut dengan menggunakan pendekatan kooperatif learning sehingga dapat meningkatkan social emotional learning peserta didik yang dapat memperbaiki interaksi guru dan siswa saat pembelajaran berkelompok berlangsung.” Buka Sari Karmina, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D, sebelum memulai sesi materi pada pertemuan kedua hari Senin, tanggal 7 Agustus, 2023.

Lokakarya Pengabdian Masyarakat yang berhubungan dengan Pelatihan Pembelajaran Sosial Emosional melalui Pembelajaran Kooperatif dimulai pukul 13.00 hingga 15.30 WIB. Bertempat di Aula SD Laboratorium UM, lantai 2, agenda tersebut dihadiri oleh Sari Karmina, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D selaku ketua penelitian, Nur Lailiyah Jamil, S.Pd, selaku anggota penelitian, Siti Nafi’ah, S.Pd selaku kepala sekolah SD Laboratorium Universitas Negeri Malang dan 9 guru dari kalangan pengajar Sains, Matematika dan Bahasa Inggris. Lokakarya ini berlangsung selama 3 kali pertemuan tanggal 4, 7 dan 8 Agustus.

Berikutnya, saat pelatihan berlangsung, Sari Karmina mempersilahkan guru-guru untuk duduk secara berkelompok yang mana kelompok tersebut sudah ditentukan sejak awal. Selain itu, Sari Karmina juga mempersiapkan 3 poster di dinding ruangan untuk memaksimalkan diskusi pelatihan yang berkonsep “think-display-discuss” menggunakan metode pengajaran Cooperative Learning agar guru memahami konsep tentang bagaimana cara membuat kerja berkelompok menjadi sukses dan komposisi ideal sebuah kelompok agar menjadi efektif. Dalam hal ini, guru diminta untuk berdiskusi secara berkelompok dan menuliskan beberapa kriteria yang berhubungan dengan hal tersebut.

Para peserta mengaku antusias mengingat pelatihan ini dibutuhkan oleh guru agar interaksi guru dan siswa dapat berjalan secara komunikatif dan bermakna saat pembelajaran kelompok diimplementasikan di dalam kelas. Sesi diskusi ini langsung dimonitori oleh ketua penelitian Sari Karmina, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D. Dengan hadir pada pelatihan ini, diharapkan guru dapat menerapkan pembelajaran melalui metode Cooperative Learning yang benar sehingga dapat menumbuhkan kesejahteraan sosial emotional siswa serta  membuat classroom management yang efektif dalam bekerja secara berkelompok.

Folktales are a cultural heritage that must be preserved. They are not merely entertainment, but also records of events that reflect the society in which they arose. Nevertheless, folktales can be told from various perspectives, making them an effective medium for transmitting values.

Reading folktales has several benefits, including developing reading skills, enriching vocabulary, helping children learn about a region's cultural traditions, fostering knowledge and appreciation for other regional cultures, and more. This background motivated a team of lecturers from Malang State University (UM) and Surabaya State University (Unesa) to develop folktale writing for high school students.

Dean Faculty of Creative Technology and Heritage In its review on August 3, 2023, the UMK recommended more contemporary packaging to attract teenagers to read folk tales. The writing and publication of this book were funded by the State University of Malang (UM) through an internal research grant.
